On the Farm

Sheep

We are breeding Damara sheep, which look goat-like and are self-shearing. Their fleece falls off of its own accord and they are bred for their fantastic meat. Our aim is to produce a quality meat which will be sold locally and eventually direct from the farm.

Tree Plantation

In July 2005, we planted 25,000 Saligna (a Sydney blue gum) as part of Infinitree, an agri-forestry project.  It has been very successful and this year we will have our first commercial harvest. The trees will be thinned leaving only 20 per hectare. These remaining trees won't be harvested for several years, allowing them to get thicker. The wood will ultimately be used for timber flooring and furniture. This type of project ensures that our land is used to its best advantage, our sheep can graze through the trees and old growth forests are left alone.

Avocados & Olives

We have a small olive grove and 90 avocado trees on the farm. These were planted in 2007 and are now bearing fruit. Ultimately, like the lamb, our aim is to sell locally and from the farm.
