On the Farm
We produce a range of different products here at Angarrack Farm, all in a natural organic way. Take a look at our current range of produce below.
Chillies
Back in 2003 we planted a test crop of 3 varieties of chillies - Laser, Ballistic and Habaneros. These were grown organically (as we are currently under certification with BFA) and have proved to be a huge success, so much so that we have since planted much larger crops.
Sheep
We are breeding Damara sheep, which look goat-like and are self-shearing. Their fleece falls off of its own accord and they are bred for their fantastic meat. Our aim is to produce a quality meat which will be sold locally and eventually direct from the farm.
Gingko Biloba Plants
We have over 4000 gingko Biloba plants in our nursery which we have raised from seedlings. These are grown organically and will be used in our range of skin care products, as Gingko is well renowned for not only its medicinal effects but also its anti-oxidant properties.
Tree Plantation
Last July we planted 25,000 Saligna (a Sydney blue gum) as part of Infinitree, an agri-forestry project. This means that by the end of this year we will be able to graze our sheep through the trees, giving a dual purpose to the land.
Some of these are now nearly 2 metres tall and over the next few years will be dramatically pruned out so that only a small amount remain per acre, allowing them to grow to their full potential.
When they are 20-25 years old they will be harvested, primarily to be used in the furniture industry. This type of project ensures that our old growth forests are left alone.
