Local Activities
Below is just a small sample of the activities and attractions in and around Margaret River that will keep you busy when not relaxing on the farmstay.
Beaches
Margaret River is famous amongst the worldwide surfing community for it's excellent beaches. If you're surfer yourself or want to learn, there's no better place to go.
Beaches such as Redgate, Gnarabup, and the famous Surfer's Point (home of the Salomon Masters surf championship) are minutes away from the farmstay. There is a surf school in Gnarabup, which is also a dog friendly beach.
Wineries/Vineyards
Some of the world's finest wines are made right here in Margaret River, many receiving both Australian and international wine making awards.
Local vineyards include the famous Leewin Estate which is adjacent to the farmstay, Voyager Estate, Moss Brothers, and many more.
As well as tours of the vineyards, many of the estates also have restaurants/dining areas, and hold events - Sting's recent charity concert at Leeuwin Estate held for victims of the South East Asian tsunami for example.
Caves
Margaret River's Lake, Mammoth, and Jewel caves are excellent places to visit for a unique, relaxing tour of beautiful natural scenery.
Lake Cave holds a lake within it's cavern, beautifully reflecting the rock formations. The awe inspiring Mammoth Cave is host to fossil remains, and also has partly disabled access.
A grand tour pass is available, so you can see all 3 caves for less.
Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse
Located South of the town of Augusta, the Leeuwin Lighthouse sits on the tip of a peninsula where the Southern and Indian Oceans meet.
Over 100 years old and still fully operational, you can take a tour around the lighthouse, and during the June to August period you may even see whales swimming around the cape.
